Ongoing review of Hunter Valley Wine Country 2014s. This is in the zone, 5% PN + 5% Trebbiano, up to 50% whole bunch. Savoury and fine tannins.

Toni (Toni Paterson): Half bottle of 2023 @brokenwood Semillon, $15.

Mike (@mikebennie101): The Farm Hand organic range or the Yalumba GEN range (particularly the viognier), usually under $20.

How is this an aged wine? This BROKENWOOD WINES 2011 McLaren Vale shiraz is just chock full of brambly fruits, and so fresh and lively. Would never have guessed it if served blind. Stunning drop!

Jason King BROKENWOOD WINES It's quite odd, as when I arrived in the HV in 1982, the Lindemans 1970 Riesling Bin 3855 and Chablis Bin 3875 were idolised. Well, when you got a good cork. But looking back they were only 12 years old! Mind you those wines dominated wine shows for the next 12 years.
