LNER is making train travel even greener.

We’re announcing the order of a fleet of new tri-mode trains - with batteries that will reduce the need to use diesel when there’s no overhead power.

The trains - being built by CAF - will complement our Azuma fleet.

CAF is to build ten 10-car, tri-mode Civity trains for LNER, able to run on overhead electric, battery/diesel, or battery-only.
CAF Rail UK Limited London North Eastern Railway

CAF Rail UK Limited has extended its deal with Translink for maintenance of Class 3000 DMU fleet for a further 15yrs. CAF is also building an additional 56 intermediate cars for NIR, to cope with passenger numbers which have increased by 115% since 2004 (16m per year).
