As the first #workingclass lad to go to Uni - from my tenement (and, I believe my scheme), I sit down to (co) write two chapters on those themes..... my part starts with fish and chip shops and my (first real) encounter with entitlement.
Lots of great news incoming, but our main aim is to support the #workingclass in academia. Please do R/T before the support group gets lost in amongst 'tweets' about the brilliant conference lineup 🙏
I'm about to embark on writing two chapters on #workingclass masculinity, as a #workingclass man ... how hard can that be?
Join us for our FREE #Alternativeprovision symposium on the 23rd of May 👇 we are also joined by Excluded Lives eventbrite.co.uk/e/alternative-…
Proud to offer a new framework that looks at #theory and practice in #alternativeprovision - with colleagues Alternative Provision Research Network. We find that #psychological based theories dominate in AP. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
The value of #fishing in #youth and #crime reduction is - in part - what I had written 👉 tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10… (My) #yot kids would sit engaged for hours 🎣 👏 Sussex Police BBC News (UK)

My mum passed 6 years ago today. #workingclass hero. To this day, I don't want to let her down. The reason I work hard, but never as hard as she did. Five cleaning jobs, from 7am until 9pm, 6 days a week, on miminum wage.
Writing a new article on #workingclass and #HigherEducation . It's been too long but great to 'take on board' so many new articles, etc, with compelling evidence of disadvantage and discrimination ... it leaves me wondering why class is not a protected status.....
UPDATE: The jam-packed programme will be available ASAP, along with sign up details. We realise that those travelling from distance (e.g. abroad) will want to book a spot and a room ASAP. If that is the case, please email: [email protected] to enquire about pre-booking. R/T 🙏
At it since 8am- putting together the Final (Draft) timetable for Alliance of Working-Class Academics' third annual conference. A wide range of international ( #workingclass ) academics, researchers, artists, and practitioners have agreed to present in #Glasgow this June - not my worst Saturday! Magic!
Interested in the views of #LookedAfterChildren with #SEND using Outdoor Alternative Education? #collaboration and #coproduction create impactful research Dr Craig Johnston’s expertise was invaluable as always!
So, you spend hours/days of your 'free' time writing an article only to sign away the rights. Brilliant. Then, pay just to speak about that work for 15 minutes at a conference. Life in #HigherEducation , you can't make it up!
