🗨️ ‘No effort should be spared to recover misspent EU money without delay.

The 🇪🇺 owes this to taxpayers, and any failure to recover money would be detrimental to EU citizens’ trust’.

The EU auditors found that, while the European Commission ensures that irregular expenditure is recorded accurately and promptly, getting this money back often takes too long.

From 2014-2022, €14 billion of irregular EU expenditure was reported in all areas.

Mr Manfredi Selvaggi was appointed for the period from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2030 and replaces Mr Pietro Russo.

Finishing their first day in #Hungary , President Tony Murphy and Member Ildikó Gáll-Pelcz met with the President of the Hungarian State Audit Office, László Windisch, for a discussion on matters relating to areas of cooperation and a knowledge share on working methods.

In #Hungary today, President Tony Murphy and Member Ildikó Gáll-Pelcz had meetings at the National Assembly with Speaker László Kövér, First Officer Márta Mátrai, and former President of the EU Affairs Committee, Richárd Hörcsik, in preparation for the #EU2024HU presidency.

Members of European Court of Auditors today approved an EU ethics body to strengthen integrity, transparency & accountability in European decision-making, which will help increase citizens‘ trust in EU institutions.
