The EU auditors found that, while the European Commission ensures that irregular expenditure is recorded accurately and promptly, getting this money back often takes too long.
From 2014-2022, €14 billion of irregular EU expenditure was reported in all areas.

Members of European Court of Auditors today approved an EU ethics body to strengthen integrity, transparency & accountability in European decision-making, which will help increase citizens‘ trust in EU institutions.
Pleased to see our report on ethical frameworks in EU institutions bore fruit.
