Great meeting today with some of the orgs supporting our call for a right to a . We heard from Lesley Goodburn on the new Care Partner Policy for health & social care. Support from relatives/friends is vital, but so is choice & flexibility about that support.

Thank you so much to the amazing Lesley Goodburn for meeting with some of our members today, listening to their experiences of loved ones in care homes & hospitals & talking to us about the NHS Care Partnership policy, what it is & how it will work. On we all go!

CareRightsUK Leigh Day DoughtyStPublic Patients Association John's Campaign We know from our helpline that the management of the pandemic had a terrible impact on people's access to healthcare in care homes, for people getting care at home as well as in hospitals & other care settings. We'll make sure those experiences & voices are heard.

Crocusflower John's Campaign Prof June Andrews LLB I am sorry you had such a difficult time. My experience as a carer was very mixed & now campaign to improve support for carers. For me the problem with the ad is that the message about support for carers & anticipatory grief is lost in the stark language & makes it less effective

Joanna๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ•ท#ElectoralReform#EqualPartnersInCare John's Campaign Prof June Andrews LLB A very interesting thread .. I find it all correct, as we all travel the road of dementia path in different ways. Mine was filled with very difficult awful times, with some happy ones too.. the toll ended my marriage, husband didnโ€™t want years spent with his life wasting away

Prof June Andrews LLB But many carers won't say that. They will grieve for the many losses on the way but they are not deaths as the person is still alive. AS brutal language caused much unecessary distress as there was no balance from a charity which is supposed to be there for people with dementia

Carers might say 'This is killing me' and many of us would deeply sympathise. Carers deserve our utmost care, respect, support but so do people living with dementia. Carers might say 'I feel I've lost her' but plwd might feel they've lost even more. Yet they still have existence.
