At UN Headquarters today, I’m inspired by our exhibition with @UNWomenAfghan that highlights the stories of Afghan women and girls.

To support people survive the upcoming harsh winter, our teams provided #winterization assistance to 300 families in #Samangan with:

In Jawzan, we supported 19 SMEs to create employment opportunities, promote business development and develop skills-building activities, paving the way for the empowerment of 70 women, including returnees, internally displaced persons and members of host communities.

We took Amy Pope to hear directly from returnees what they went through when left with no other option than to leave Pakistan and witness first hand the support that IOM and partners are providing at the Torkham border.

It was pleasure and an honor to celebrate @IMD2023 with Amy Pope in Afghanistan. 🙏 Together with UN Women Afghanistan and Samuel Hall we shared stories of migrants and IDPs and highlighted the perils of women’s journeys and recovery.

I’m the daughter of migrants.

I’m the product of what can happen when migration is a choice.

But for so many Afghans, migration is not a choice.

On #MigrantsDay and every day, we must work to ensure the rights of migrant Afghan women and girls are protected and upheld.

I’ve just returned from the Torkham border.

I met with women who were forced to return from Pakistan and to the women humanitarian workers who support them.

Endless stories of sorrow and strength.

We must not lose sight of gendered dimensions of this crisis.

We are working alongside UNFPA Afghanistan UNDP Afghanistan with support from مركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة through the Afghanistan Humanitarian Trust Fund #AHTF , facilitated by IsDB Group and OIC to bring much-needed healthcare closer to 🏠 in #Afghanistan 's rural areas.
