While the world strives to put more #GirlsInICT , for the millions of Afghan girls who are out of school 'Afghanistan has become the graveyard of buried hopes'.
But Afghan women and girls don’t give up. And neither will we.
UN Women stands by them in their fight for education.
During her 2-day mission, UN Women Special Representative Alison Davidian Alison Davidian met with dozens of women partners and visited multiple projects. From women’s markets to trainings and multi-service centers, we fund pockets of hope and resilience in Bamyan, #Afghanistan .
When natural disasters hit, women & girls are always hit hardest. But women & girls are not only victims, they are also key responders. In #Afghanistan , we tirelessly work with partners to put women's needs and agency at the centre of the UN-led humanitarian response.
Back from Bamyan, #Afghanistan , I'm inspired by the resilience & creativity of our partners. Whether in the business of bakery, handicrafts or literacy & computer skills training, Afghan women work hard in spite of formidable challenges. @UNWomenAfghan stands proudly by them.
On 7 October 2023, a magnitude-6.3 earthquake rocked Herat province, Western #Afghanistan , hitting women & children the hardest.

Let Afghan women's voices be heard.
We continue to ask women in #Afghanistan what they hope, what they fear and how decision-makers can support them.

On Intl Day of Multilateralism & Diplomacy for Peace, we call for every multilateral actor to create spaces where Afghan women can be heard from directly, and put funding behind Afghan women – women leaders, women businesses, women's groups & services for women. #InvestInWomen
Despite facing formidable challenges & restrictions to their operations, Afghan women entrepreneurs don't give up.
Across #Afghanistan , we provide technical & financial support to businesswomen like Fariba to sustain and expand their businesses, and facilitate market linkages.
“I’ve raised my voice many times to change the current situation. But it seems that here, ears are deaf, and eyes are blind. No one sees us, and no one hears our voices.”
—Joweria, a former defense lawyer.
