Using a single disc seeder? On average, there was a 17%, 28% & 37% reduction in canola establishment as MAP increased from 50, 100 and 150kg/ha compared to Nil MAP. Be aware of your SBU%. GRDC North NSW DPI Agronomy

Ever wondered if MAP fertiliser toxicity was worse with smaller canola seed? These GRDC results suggest no difference, however the improved establishment from larger seed helped compensate for some of the losses. GRDC North NSW DPI Agronomy GOA Barry Haskins

Are you sowing enough canola seeds? Hereā€™s some results derived from an GRDC project that could help adjust seeding rates (kg/ha) based on small, medium or large seed size. Hope it helps.

Hereā€™s the results from the intercropping/companion project. Take home message was intercropping increased productivity from a unit of land perspective, but profitability was halved compared to wheat monoculture. See below for results GRDC North NSW DPI Agronomy

Using a combination of irrigation, evaporation covers and sowing times to evaluate canola est% under various soil temp and moisture conditions. Just one of the trials in the new GRDC project being lead by Andrew_Fletcher. Stay tuned for updates. NSW DPI Agronomy CSIRO

Highly recommend this webinar if you grow and retain your own canola seed, and seek to ensure your seed-block is best managed to maximise seed vigour, reduce seed abnormalities and improve next years canola establishment. GRDC North NSW DPI Agronomy

We need input from Australian farmers and consultants in a short online survey of canola establishment rates and research priorities to improve canola establishment. Results will be used to guide research in new GRDC-supported project. Survey link: surveymonkey.com/r/N7QZCXG

Plan on grading (seed sizing) canola seed for next year? As a guide - hereā€™s some seed size distribution results across 3 sites from CNSW, & the total seed required to keep 1t of seed for a given seed size (for next years sowing) GRDC North NSW DPI Agronomy

Ever wondered why you DONT apply glyphosate (as a harvest aid and/or late weed ctrl) to canola seed-crops? Next years crop establishment will be greatly reduced no matter how big the seed size is. GRDC North NSW DPI Agronomy

Tolerances for retaining weather damaged canola seed is extremely small. Any visual symptoms is likely to produce seed with low vigor (& hence poor establishment for next year). Conduct a seed vigor test if you have any doubt. GRDC North NSW DPI Agronomy
