You might see her flying low over the ground, often in a zig zag pattern, as she investigates the ground for a good nesting spot 🏡

My local Kenilworth Wood seemed to wake up this weekend and provided some lovely hoverfly encounters including Megasyrphus erraticus, Criorhina ranunculi, Fagisyrphus cinctus and Parasyrphus annulatus amongst other things.

Overall, the latest findings are mixed. Around half of species at monitored sites had a better than average year, while the other half were below average.
