Tonight, I arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 🇪🇹 to assume office as Director of WHO at AU and UNECA
I look forward to strengthening the relationship between @WHO, African Union & ECA as we collectively work with Member States to accelerate progress towards #HealthForAll .
Very good interaction today with UN_Cameroon team on reinforcing inter-agency collaboration & integrating efforts to ensure progress on health & development priorities as well as advancing the well-being of populations & support to those affected by humanitarian crises.
Recent flooding in #Congo displaced over 200K people & caused widespread destruction.
In support of the government’s response, World Health Organization (WHO) has provided emergency health supplies & is working with the authorities to ensure access to basic health services for the affected populations.
In response to the diphtheria outbreak in Batha, Chad🇹🇩, World Health Organization (WHO) has deployed SURGE experts to strengthen the efforts.
The team is supporting case management, surveillance, risk communication, and the vaccination of over 5,000 nomads.
Tireless efforts to end #cholera outbreak in Ethiopia.
To ensure rapid and effective care & treatment, World Health Organization (WHO), working with the health authorities, has set up 17 treatment centres across 8 regions with a total capacity of 718 beds.
