Well, we did it!

After 4 years of streaming on Spotify, apple music etc, we are now free from the unethical algorithms - which we found to be a bit of a waste of time. See you on bandcamp

Well, the list idea didn't really work, but there must be loads of independent artists not on spotify/apple music etc? Obvs we know of a few, but wondering if anyone wanted to list them here? Who's taken their music off?

Thoughts?

Back to the 'not on Spotify' thing. We have started a list of bands/artists that aren't on Spotify and similar streaming platforms. Feel free to add: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…

I want to start a group that shares anti war music. Or any music that you feel describes the current situation. What’s the best way to do this on Twitter/X?

When you put actual earnings figures against streaming v purchase of music it is really sobering. I don't have a simple answer but £28 a year for unlimited access to an artist's entire back catalogue of tracks. That's £7 income each per band member per year from Spotify.

Streaming for us is about £28 per year; Bandcamp revenue in the last 4 years has been around £2800. In light of this and the completely unethical corporate model adopted by Spotify etc, we will be removing our music from those platforms. It just doesn't work for us.
