JBPacker I think every college class should have a real-deal practitioner come in and speak to students about the transfer of academic knowledge to real-world application.

“The first Can Open has provided exactly what we wanted, a quality racing opportunity in Canada that is part of the national program. There have been some world class performances with great racing that is perfect for this point before trials,”

A 5KG Ballistic Ball throw is part of our testing protocol, the athlete’s ability to coordinate whole body movement to express velocity & power.

Rep 1: 11.8 Pk Velocity / 87 degree release angle / 274 inches height (from release)
Rep 2: 12.3 / 86 / 292
Rep 3: 12.3 / 85 / 289

Testing (3rd round) after a 90 day block, general prep along with some MoveFactorX⁩ velocity sequence modeling (polishing the granite of a strong base).

See that sharp downward eccentric velocity (InversePOP100V=1.79), that’s what we are looking for! ⁦Maxwell Richardson

Especially over longer distances, there is a rhythm to riding out the stroke.

Help them feel the skills.

By having them breathe every stroke and swing the arms straight, it’s easier to feel these big shifts from side to side.

Once exaggerated, they can learn to tighten it up.

Managing undulation is a major challenge in butterfly, breaststroke, and underwater kicking.

A lot of swimmers struggle to know where their hips are and what they’re doing.

Weight belts are great here because the extra mass helps them feel what’s happening.

Could summer mcintosh test the 4:20 mark on a 400IM one fine day, what with the in-training 100m stroke speed she's testing at the Swimming Canada / Natation Canada Open. Her latest: a 57.19-57.24 stroke-for-stroke spar with Olympic champ Maggie Mac Neil, OLY John Atkinson

The most valuable lessons we learn from a coach are seldom understood at the time but mostly years later. They are the lessons that shape our performance in life rather than in the arena.
