HEADS UP: Tonight and possibly tomorrow night could be our best shot at seeing the Northern Lights here in Kentucky since 2005. We need skies to be completely clear in order to really see it and you’ll need to look low on the horizon.

Good morning Kentucky, I am in for Dillon Gaudet today so here is your morning planner to start this Friday. It is pleasantly cool with low to mid 50s so maybe have a light jacket as you head out, but at least we look dry except for a few scattered showers this afternoon.

2:10am update: I continue to watch rain and storms back near the I-65 corridor in western KY. While there is one severe thunderstorm warning on the southern end of it, I do not expect any severe weather here in central, southern, and eastern KY for the rest of the night.

I am watching these storms in western Kentucky closely as they move east into central Kentucky over the next few hours. Our model guidance shows the severe aspect is very low with these, but additional flash flooding issues are likely well into the overnight. STAY ALERT!

While a stray severe storm can't be ruled out, our severe weather threat is winding down. But what isn't over & is likely just ramping up is the flash flood threat. The area I've circled below has the best chance at seeing significant flooding issues into early Thursday!

Damaging winds are likely with this storm heading into Adair, Taylor, and eventually Casey counties! Also flash flooding is very possible!

We can still easily see severe warnings through the overnight, but we are getting increasingly concerned for potential significant flash flooding. Look at all these storms lining up and moving over the same areas. If you live in a flood prone area, stay alert!

Very strong storms continue to go up across southern and south central Kentucky! Torrential rains leading to flash flooding, winds of 50mph, and dime size hail all likely!
