For years, the DC Chapter has been part of a citizen science effort with Beyond Gas partners to find methane leaks and monitor indoor air pollution.
We're so grateful to see this work featured on @pbs. Watch to learn more about this powerful effort!

Next up Mark Rodeffer of Beyond Gas asking that we do NOT strip money from our most vulnerable communities. We must restore money to the SETF!
How have DC residents described Mayor Muriel Bowser's raiding of climate funds in the budget so far?
'an elaborate shell game'
'broken promises'
'a betrayal'
'money laundering'
We're looking to Cm Charles Allen & ultimately Phil Mendelson to right this wrong.
Check out the latest PBS episode featuring Rosa & Charlene, WIN leaders, who've been conducting gas leak detection in their Ward 7 neighborhoods & advocating for Healthy Homes, & the switch from gas to electric.

The DC Council just voted unanimously for the Healthy Homes Act, which will help DC families stabilize utility bills and breathe cleaner air by retrofitting 30,000 low- and middle-income homes with highly efficient electric equipment. One more vote to go!

'Janeese Lewis George is a champion for environmental justice. She’s the only member of the DC Council with a 100% voting record over the last four years,' said Mark Rodeffer, chair of the Sierra Club DC Chapter Political Committee.
We're at the Council of DC this morning, NAACP DC BRANCH IPL (DC.MD.NoVA) WIN DC Sierra Club DC Chapter GoNatureForward Cm Charles Allen & so many caring DC residents to say: we're *ready* for the Healthy Homes Act. DC is ready, our homes are ready, the bill is ready for Phil Mendelson to schedule in COW!
My #HealthyHomes bill passed committee today 4-0. This will help low-income homes upgrade to electric heat & more for free or reduced cost. We will retrofit 30,000 homes by 2040 away from fossil fuels. We can create jobs, improve air quality, & meet climate goals. Win. Win. Win.
This morning Charles Allen announced the Healthy Homes Act will receive a committee vote on Monday morning at 9 am during a press conference called by Chesapeake Climate, Sierra Club DC Chapter, WIN DC, and Interfaith Power & Light to protest PROJECTPipes and push to transition to clean electric energy in DC.
'It is time for the DC Council to pass the Healthy Homes Act' ---- Mark from Sierra Club DC Chapter
We oppose the recall attempts against environmental champions Charles Allen and Brianne K. Nadeau.
On air pollution, climate change, plastic pollution, and our top environmental priorities, we know who fights for us and we'll fight for them!

For decades cities and states have competed for stadium deals that were terrible for taxpayers. So I have a challenge for Mayor Muriel Bowser- let’s compete by both offering $0 in taxpayer dollars to these teams and let them decide where they want to pay to build their own arena.
Utility ratepayer advocate DC People's Counsel requests that DC Public Service Commission open an investigation into Washington Gas dirty energy pipelines, noting the utility's $14 billion Project Pipes plan 'does not align with the new, fossil-free future that the Council has charted.'
