This is a tough read but an important one.

National Parks and Wildlife Service do incredible work every day to tackle wildlife crime. The stories are heartbreaking but we can take some comfort that there are now more rangers, heavier fines and - soon - stronger and more enforceable legislation.

Huge effort underway from volunteers and partner organisations to rescue oiled seabirds off the #wicklow and #wexford coastline. Some of them responding and starting to feed.

Great to attend the opening of Garter Lane Arts Centre Studios this morning with Malcolm Noonan T.D..

The building has been beautifully restored and will be an incredible facility for the arts in Waterford for years to come.

The National Biodiversity Data Centre plays a critical role in our collective effort to conserve and restore nature.

I am extremely concerned about the seabirds that have been found covered in oil along the East Coast. I have made emergency funding available to assist the rescue and rehabilitation effort. National Parks and Wildlife Service regional staff are also on the ground monitoring the situation.

I came across these two beauties in Buttevant on my heritage travels.

I visited Killeshin church with our National Monuments Service team and Laois heritage officer Thomas Carolan to meet the local community who take great care of their local heritage.
