This is a tough read but an important one.
National Parks and Wildlife Service do incredible work every day to tackle wildlife crime. The stories are heartbreaking but we can take some comfort that there are now more rangers, heavier fines and - soon - stronger and more enforceable legislation.
Great to attend the opening of Garter Lane Arts Centre Studios this morning with Malcolm Noonan T.D..
The building has been beautifully restored and will be an incredible facility for the arts in Waterford for years to come.
I am extremely concerned about the seabirds that have been found covered in oil along the East Coast. I have made emergency funding available to assist the rescue and rehabilitation effort. National Parks and Wildlife Service regional staff are also on the ground monitoring the situation.
The #SafeAccessZones bill has just passed the Seanad and is off to the President for signature soon.

This week we held a workshop with An Garda Siochana Hq to plan how we can work together on wildlife crime over the months ahead.
Prevention is an important part of our collaboration.
