Dr Caroline Nalule responding to Chepkorir (Tapnyole)'s question highlights the importance of people-centered consultations in the iterations to the East African Court of Justice in the hope of achieving the goal of becoming a Political Federation.
Prof Chidi Odinkalu, CGoF argues from a functional perspective, the idea of exhaustion of local remedies is unreasonable since the EAC as a Customs Union can't have this requirement.
He says this is an antecedent of the outdated mindset in approaching regional integration.
Prof Chidi Odinkalu, CGoF argues that state sovereignty itself empowers the regional courts of justice.
Unlike in colonial times, states voluntarily acced to the regional blocs hence they ought to follow the decisions because of their sovereignty.
