Not a happy camper 😟 The snow was starting to fly when I encountered this young Yellow-crowned Night Heron this weekend. A rare visitor any time of year, this is the latest record for Newfoundland (and maybe Canada!) by several weeks.

Of all the #ABArare birds recorded in NL this week, this may be the most ridiculous. A EURASIAN OYSTERCATCHER has been hanging out at a busy intersection in St. John's, foraging on the small strips of grassy median and even crossing the road in traffic.

I caught up with these three #ABArare BARNACLE GEESE just outside St. John's Thursday evening. It was dusk, so photography conditions sucked - but very cool to see this species for just my second time in Newfoundland!

I bumped into four lingering #ABArare Black-tailed Godwits at Portugal Cove South, NL. I didn't spend much time with them, but was happy to get a few photos of them on the wing when they flew by quite close at one point. What beautiful birds!!
