Happy anniversary #DARTMission – Wow, time flies!

Last year our team turned science fiction into a reality by demonstrating the world’s first planetary defense technique that could one day be used to prevent an impact by a hazardous asteroid.

Congrats to the #DARTMission team for receiving the Space Achievement Award last night at #SpaceSymposium ! Thanks to their commitment to #PlanetaryDefense , this team added a new innovative technique to our tool belt in protecting our planet!

Riding a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, our #DARTMission blasted off at 1:21am EST (06:21 UTC), launching the world's first mission to test asteroid-deflecting technology.
