The Berlin Archaeopteryx, one of the most famous and beautiful fossils ever discovered. Originally hailed as the link between dinosaurs and birds, this animal certainly helped better our understanding of their relationships. #FossilFriday

Happy #FossilFriday , check out this skull from a juvenile Gryposaurus! These hadrosaurs called North America their home roughly 75 million years ago, and this particular individual would have enjoyed the lush jungle that makes up the Kaiparowits Formation. (1/2)

For #FossilFriday I got to see the new #Archaeopteryx at the Field Museum and it is marvelous, in addition to a fantastic presentation by Jingmai O'Connor on the specimen. #Dinosaurs #Paleontology
#FossilFriday Makaracetus bidens, a protocetid whale with… uh… something funky on its face. Was it a trunk? Prehensile lips like I illustrated here? Some secret third thing? Good question. There isn’t a good modern analog for it. #Paleoart #AncientWhaleWeek
Happy #FossilFriday from #archaeopteryx Field Museum. Photos do not do this specimen justice. Akiko Shinya & Connie Van Beek have outdone themselves with this masterpiece of prep. Congratulations to all!

For #FossilFriday here's our #Stegosaurus collection, usually referred to as 'Frankie.' Or at least most of it- I couldn't squeeze all of the plates into a single image. He was one of our first featured genera and has definitely been one of our most popular.

Diplocaulus was an aquatic amphibian from the Permian of the southwest United States. Its unusual boomerang shape is the result of greatly enlarged bones on the lateral margins of its skull. This shape allowed the head to maintain its orientation while swimming. #FossilFriday
Here’s an adorable #Ichthyosaur us embryo for #FossilFriday !
Both from the same specimen, just the left one is a cast from Leicester Museums & Galleries, and on the right the real fossil from Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.

For #FossilFriday I'm revisiting an old sketch I plan to finish with 2 other illustrations this year. It's been a slow start coming back and finding my earrings. I love BW. #Tyrannosaurus
Happy #FossilFriday !
This is IRScNB R 303, an immaculate Mosasaurus on display at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences
What's super special about this guy is how clearly the palate is preserved, a region of mosasaur anatomy that is currently the bane of my existence...
