Today marks the beginning of #OperationSceptre a national week of action to tackle knife crime.

#OperationSceptre is a nationwide knife surrender which runs until the 24th September.

During this time members of the public will be able to anonymously hand-in unwanted knives, including knives which are prohibited, to amnesty bins at police station front counters.

Children's author and an honorary member of the NSPCC Council from York, Christina Gabbitas, has been working alongside North Yorkshire Police to teach children about the dangers of knife crime as part of the national #OperationSceptre campaign.

As part of County Lines Intensification Week, officers from Harlow's Community Policing Team joined staff at the College. A knife arch was set up to screen students as they entered and police with sniffer dogs were stationed at the other entrances.
