Lovely crowd and great comments at the end of my talk on placenames of the Liberties Dublin as part of the wonderful Culture Date D8 festival. Thanks to the staff of Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin who were so welcoming in hosting it.
The 1% Club I'll be honest, I thought it was placenames, as in The Mailbox in Birmingham! I wasn't sure if there were places called The Light and The Mirror!

tidjani (التجاني) | 🇲🇷🇪🇭 This seems to happen quite a bit already in practice; I've seen lots of placenames, etc rendered in decidedly non-French ways, for ex. Aoueyvia village more popularly written Awevia. Not sure if it's just creeping global Anglicization or what's the influence behind it?
Úna Bhreathnach Dublin City University Fiontar & Scoil na Gaeilge (DCU) SNSBI Sorry I can't be at this #placenames conference organised by colleagues from Fiontar & Scoil na Gaeilge (DCU)
Richard Whitters Raglin looks pretty chill, and comfortably far from the more foreboding placenames on the map 😅
Absolutely Chaotic Math Lion Arc 🤯😱👀 Could you give an example of a definition you don’t agree with, and how you would define it differently? What is the difference with disagreeing with Webster’s dictionary, or placenames in Japan?
