On this day 1972 a fierce FA Cup semi-final between Stoke City and The at Villa Park. George Armstrong gave the lead to the Gunners but injured keeper Bob Wilson couldn't prevent the Potters' equaliser and needed to be replaced in goal by striker John Radford.
