Wonderful 100 yr birthday party for CPRE Peak District and South Yorkshire. Great speech from Fiona Reynolds, & the launch of a new book on environmental trail-blazer, Ethel Haythornthwaite. I was so lucky & privileged to work for Gerald & Ethel H at the start of my career. cprepdsy.org.uk/news/helen-mor…
Thank you to Richard Fidler 🏴 Helen Mort and the The Yorkshire Post for this lovely article on our founder which was published on our centenary yesterday 🙏.
UK dictionaries exclude humans from their definitions of nature. But language matters & if we want to repair our relationship with nature - we also need to redefine it & recognise that #WeAreNature . Join the campaign and sign the petition here: wearenature.org
This eve celebrating 100 yrs of campaigning by CPRE Peak District and South Yorkshire with the launch of a splendid new biog of Ethel Haythornthwaite by Helen Mort & a fine speech by Fiona Reynolds. Inspirational stuff!
Just returned from a fabulous holiday in Jordan - stunning sights, good birding, wonderful food & amazing people. Despite all the horrific troubles around them, it felt entirely safe & so welcoming (& they need our support). Highly recommended Visit Jordan Why Jordan Tours

It's a lovely long weekend...take 15 minutes to sit by a river, or two, or more

It's No Mow May!
Time to ignore the mower and let our wildlife have a good old garden hootenanny 😁💚

Latest from me: A radical politics rooted in nature is spreading – and the establishment doesn’t like it theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
Guy Shrubsole Lewis Winks
Fantastic news: MPs said a firm yes to ending #peat sales in #horticulture , rejecting opposition from Christopher Chope MP. Fully supported to a second reading. We urge #government to fast-track this now and get peat out of our gardens once and for all Rebecca Pow #peat free
First rate comment here from a politician with a backbone. The Conservatives are doomed electorally because they have nothing to offer the nation of substance and because they are so debased and broken they resort to gutter politics.
National Parks *ought* to be bastions of nature recovery.
Instead, they're often in worse condition for wildlife than the wider landscape, find Campaign for National Parks.
Will Rishi Sunak, @keir_starmer & Ed Davey commit the funds & reforms needed to restore these landscapes?
Nature in #NationalParks isn’t immune from the crisis that is happening elsewhere.
We need urgent action and major changes – the government needs to strengthen legislation and significantly increase the resources for nature recovery our Parks 👀👇
