It is very encouraging to see the early results of rehabilitation works in one of the Peatlands Climate Action Scheme bnmpcas.ie sites. The scheme main objective is rehabilitating circa 33,000 ha in over 80 Bord na Móna bogs.
Glorious morning to record a CBS square BirdWatch Ireland on a rehabilitated cutaway bog. In just 3yrs, the transformation is magnificent: ✅️Reed, Bog cottongrass, Sally, Birch - colonising bare peat & open water
✅️ Ringed plover, Snipe, Lapwing, Swan, Reed bunting, etc now common
We have chicks! The first of the National Parks and Wildlife Service live-streaming Chough nests in West Cork has started hatching. First hatching at 1am this morning and now at least three. Notice Nature Ireland NPWS Nature Conservation
