Dry or wet Riser in a building enables FF's to get water to hard to reach places,crews came across riser inlets blocked by scaffolding. Do not obstruct any riser inlet or outlet. These facilities allow our crews quick access which could mean the difference between life or death.

Such sad sad news tonight. Thoughts are with family and friends and all involved.

Firefighters suffered verbal abuse both last night, by a man while putting out a garden fire in South Shields & Sunday night, by a group of youths when tackling a grass fire in Newbiggin Hall. This is not acceptable. Our crews deserve respect.
