Survey season is a busy time for our Wardens with early starts.
They’re delighted that this years Ring Ouzel surveys have shown 9 singing males. Not as high as some years when we have had an average of 12 but a welcome increase on last year when there was only 5. #WardenWednesday
Look out for signs at Stanage & Burbage indicating the presence nearby of Ring Ouzel nests & heed the directions to avoid those areas. Climbers & walkers have earned a good reputation for being willing to share our gritstone uplands with these special birds. 📸 Kim Leyland

Most of us would have still been asleep when Pete and team started their ring ouzel surveying for us this morning. An upland specialist & a red-listed and declining species, we hope the work of our project will help the 'mountain blackbird'. BirdGuides BTO DefraNature
A late evening visit to Cleeve Common - still basking in hazy sun, but difficult to bird with winds gusting upto 40mph. Regular spots duly checked with no success, but patient searching finally produced a notable count of 12 Ring Ouzels, feeding in a sheltered gully #GlosBirds
Bredon Hill - At least 16 Ring Ouzels on escarpment early this morning. Worcester Birding #Worcsbirds
A single ring ouzel calling near Manstone Rock on our #Stiperstones #NationalNatureReserve this morning.
These are the upland blackbirds which sadly are only passing through, as they are extinct as a breeding species in #Shropshire now.

You are our eyes and ears. If you witness a bird of prey being shot, or come across what may be an incident of #raptorpersecution , report it immediately to the police on 101 and fill out this form: rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wild…
Thank you.
Terrible this happens anywhere, never mind in a national park. But it still does, as well documented by Raptor Persecution UK .
