I got a D in my A Level Biology results, which was my second attempt because I failed the first go.

But

9 years later I have 18 months left of my PhD research in forensic taphonomy, which surprisingly involves a lot of science 😉

Results really don't define your future ❤️

This might be the coolest 🦕 taphonomy paper yet! Hornung et al report on fragmentary probable titanosaur remains (dorsal centrum & manual phalanx) - and other fossils - that weathered & were later fluvially transported & deposited IN A CAVE!

Spent last two weeks studying the Haro River Quarry assemblage from Pakistan with Dr. Advait M. Jukar for palaeoecology and taphonomy. This is one of the most complete, well preserved and the only Pleistocene Siwalik assemblage from a well recorded, excavated context.

This week I'm at IPHES-CERCA, in Terragona, to learn how to read the dental microwear of animals' teeth to reconstruct their ecological niche. Right now, I'm observing the first interesting samples from Lebanon for my project!

Thanks to the Musée de Préhistoire de Tautavel for the warm welcome and for allowing us to conduct the 'Taphonomy of teeth: between nature and culture' workshop. It has undoubtedly provided an incredible experience to all the participating researchers.

🚨New paper🚨on our work at the site of Salzgitter-Lebenstedt: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jq…. We used ZooMS to identify small bone fragments from the site and integrated these with taphonomy to investigate site formation history and human subsistence behaviour.
